Margaret E. Moore, OD

Dr. Margaret Moore is a residency-trained medical optometrist with a focus on comprehensive ocular health care (including diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and dry eye syndrome) and contact lens exams (including soft lenses, RGP lenses and scleral lenses). Dr. Moore is also trained and interested in low vision care and disorders of binocular vision (i.e. double vision or other visual manifestations of traumatic brain injury, including trouble reading and sensitivity to light).

Dr. Moore was accepted to University of Notre Dame as one of the top 100 applicants to her class and received her Bachelor of Science degree there in Biological Sciences. She received her Doctorate in Optometry from The Ohio State University College of Optometry and graduated as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honor society. While in optometry school, Dr. Moore served as President of the National Optometric Student Association, which performs glaucoma screenings in underserved communities of Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Moore also served on the board for Students Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) with which she helped to collect and sort donated eyeglasses from Lions Clubs and traveled to Toliman, Guatemala to perform eye exams.

Dr. Moore completed her residency in ocular disease, low vision and acquired brain injury optometry at the West Haven Veterans Affairs Hospital. During this time, she saw patients every week in the Yale Ophthalmology retina, glaucoma, cornea, uveitis and neuro-ophthalmology clinics, provided low vision care for inpatients in the Eastern Blind Rehabilitation Center and provided optometric care for veterans with a history of traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Moore is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, the American Optometric Association and the Connecticut Association of Optometrists. She has presented at multiple national meetings and is currently working towards fellowship in the Academy.

Outside of eye care, Dr. Moore enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, cooking and exploring New England with her husband James.
